Platycerium boneieekius can be found deep within the woods, underfoot, where fairies hide out and whisper about the outside world. They say that should you be so lucky to find one of these magical specimens- it's because the forest fairies sensed your misfortune with other platycerium species and wanted you to find it- a way for them to send you a glimmer of magic and hope.
These elusive Platcycerium boneieekius are incredibly uncommon, and no two are the same. Typically found on fallen wood or cork, it is typically found sharing space with lichens and mosses and during reproductive cycles, finds a specific type of miniature orchid to bond with proving to be quite the interesting symbiotic relationship. The miniature orchids that boneieekius bond with bloom over time, drawing attention to the pair, which benefits the duo in being found. When disturbed or moved, the duo releases magic into the surrounding vicinity causing certain sensations. Some of the sensations folx have described are that of awe, cute aggression, sonder, disbelief, feelings of existentialism and that of being humbled.
**These ethically sourced bones and locally foraged lichen mimic Platycerium species. Each one of these elusive Platcycerium boneieekius (boe-knee-key-yus) are handmade and meant to be display pieces (we made this originally for our friend that is queen of killing staghorn ferns).
***Each piece is handcrafted here in the PNW.
*Please note, the name Platycerium boneieekius is the name we chose for our artwork and NOT an actual plant name.
